LOS ANGELES – (Oct. 1, 2007) – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Get ready to laugh-out-loud as Salient Media and Payaso Entertainment bring the hilarious comedy Hick-Spanic to DVD on November 13.
In Hick-Spanic, comedian Alex Reymundo rocks the house as he delivers his first stand-up comedy special, filmed before a live audience in Albuquerque, NM at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Growing up in a large Mexican family in the South, Alex married a blonde, blue-eyed hillbilly from Kentucky. “Both families spend the day debating who married up,” says Reymundo. This clash of cultures has given them two beautiful children. “They’re half Latino, half Hillbilly. They’re my little Hick-Spanics,” explains Reymundo from the stage.
Best known as one of The Original Latin Kings of Comedy, alongside George Lopez, Cheech Marin, Paul Rodriguez and Joey Medina, Reymundo is also the host and executive producer of Showtime’s Payaso Comedy Slam and The Original Latin Divas of Comedy.
This year, Reymundo is touring with Blue Collar comedian Ron White to sold out venues across the country. “I’m so grateful to my friend Ron for re-introducing me to this great audience,” says Reymundo. “I’ve always said: Hillbillies are Latinos with a tanning problem. I like to refer to this show as the Hick and a Spic tour.” They have done so well with Ron’s tour in ’07 that a 2008 tour is in the works.
As a bilingual performer, Alex Reymundo has lent his unique brand of humor to many corporations, associations, and products, while consistently keeping his eye on moral responsibility to his community. His feature credits include The Movement, El Matador, The Original Latin Kings of Comedy, the animated feature Cars, and Permanent Vacation. When asked what he thinks of his own success and what’s in store for the future, Alex replies with a simple, “Everything can be accomplished with hard work and the right attitude.”
